Όλοι ανασαίνουμε τον ίδιο αέρα!...
Όλοι μπορούμε να βλαστήσουμε κάτω από το φως!...
Θνητοί και όμοροι!... Στο τρένο της ζωής,
συνεπιβάτες!
Και σε ζωγράφισα, ζωή,
με όλα τα χρώματα που μου έδωσες!
και ήπια απ' τα χέρια σου,
τους ζωοφόρους χυμούς
που με κέρασες !....
Και πορεύτηκα
χωρίς να αγκομαχώ
από το βάρος της ευθύνης που φορτώθηκα !....

ΕΚΠΤΩΣΕΙΣ ΑΞΙΩΝ της Μαρίας Κολοβού - Ρουμελιώτη
Στέρεψαν οι αξίες των καιρών
Τέλεψε η αμβροσία των Ολυμπίων
Του Προμηθέα η προσφορά, τέφρα στα μάτια των λαών
Που γέμισε τους λάκκους των πληβείων.
Στέρνες ονείρων γέμισαν οι υποσχέσεις των πανό
Και το πολύ φαΐ σκέβρωσε τις μασέλες
Ζαλίστηκε του ανθρώπου το μυαλό
Όταν οι λούστροι κούνησαν τις πλουμιστές κορδέλες.
Παραφροσύνης μασημένες συνταγές
Είπαν οι ρήτορες νεοφερμένης τρέλας
Σ’ απόμακρη ηχώ φυλούσαν τις κραυγές
Που ‘βγαιναν με το χάραμα της μέρας.
Κι εγώ που δεν πιθύμησα πολλά
Φτωχό λυχνάρι μες την νύχτα είμαι, που φέγγει
Τη σκοτεινή μου σκέψη, για να βλέπω πιο καλά
Το δράμα που περνά η οικουμένη…

We all breathe the same air!...
We can all sprout under the light!...
Mortals, fellow residents on the same beautiful planet!... On the train of life,
fellow passengers!
And I painted you, life,
with all the colors you gave me!
and I drank from your hands,
the life-giving juices
that you treated me to!....
And I walked
without panting
from the weight of the responsibility I was burdened with!....

The values of the times have dried up
The ambrosia of the Olympians has ended
Prometheus' offering, ashes in the eyes of the people
Which filled the pits of the plebeians.
Cisterns of dreams were filled with the promises of banners
And too much food twisted the jaws
The mind of man became dizzy
When the lusters shook the plumed ribbons.
Insanity's chewed recipes
Said the orators of newly arrived madness
They guarded the cries in a distant echo
Which came out with the dawn of day.
And I, who did not desire much
A poor lamp in the night I am, which shines
My dark thought, to see better
The drama that the universe is going through…
